Diplo and Switch, better known together as the insane duo Major Lazer, are known for their unconventional beats, bizarre sounds and original synths that turn up the heat in any party. Just look at their recent release “Original Don” or the iconic “Pon De Floor”; immediately you notice that they’re all about being wacky and fun. But then comes out Major Lazer’s latest track “Get Free”, completely different from their usual works. It’s still got that M.L. feel with the reggae-bass beat for the backbone, but its much more relaxed and smooth.
It’s a satisfying change of mood, making this one of the most chilled out tunes I’ve heard in a while. Also, I couldn’t think of any better vocals for “Get Free” than the magnificent voice of Amber of Dirty Projectors. Give it a few listens, it will grow on you.
