[Chilled] Major Lazer ft. Amber – Get Free

Diplo and Switch , better known together as the insane duo Major Lazer , are known for their unconventional beats, bizarre sounds and original synths that turn up the heat in any party. Just look at their recent release “Original Don” or the iconic “ Pon De Floor”; immediately you notice that they’re all about being wacky and fun. But then comes out Major Lazer’s latest track “Get Free” , completely different from their usual works. It’s still got that M.L. feel with the reggae-bass beat for the backbone, but its much more relaxed and smooth.

It’s a satisfying change of mood, making this one of the most chilled out tunes I’ve heard in a while. Also, I couldn’t think of any better vocals for “Get Free” than the magnificent voice of Amber of Dirty Projectors . Give it a few listens, it will grow on you.

Even after numerous amount of versions of everyone’s favourite “Somebody That I Used To Know” from Gotye, the remixes keep coming and coming. As our Part 1 wasn’t enough, here’s part 2. Gotye’s and Kimbra’s vocals have been the latest popular acoustics to use on top of house bangers, so its no wonder that the track has attracted so much attention, even the irreplaceable EDM giant, Tiesto.

Personally, TheFatRat takes the gold ‘Favourite Take on Gotye’ because it doesn’t feel like someone quickly through together a few synths and beats on top of the vocals and shared it while the hype was still up. No, you can see that TheFatRat thought thoroughly before, taking elements from the original sound and implementing them well into their own mix.

Even Harder, you say? You’re asking for it…
It starts out all innocent and nice… until Gotye’s voice goes all demonic before all hell breaks lose. If you’d like a good punch in the ears, Berlin-born duo Dumme Jungs deliver the goods.
BONUS: Want some wobbles, eh? We got that too!
It’s not even the fact that this is a dubstep remix that I enjoy about this song, but the way the vocals are cut up and used in the drop. Interesting, to say the least :)

I. Was. Not. Expecting. This.
What UK based dubstep collective, Engine-EarZ Experiment , achieve with their remix of Nitin Sawhney’s “Daydream” is combine two incompatible genres to create something you’ve never heard together before. The fusion of the traditional sound of the indian flute with the modern-day dubstep wobbles and radical electronic synths makes this track a one of a kind. I highly recommend to put on your best headphones or plug in your sound system to maximally enjoy some very unique and beautiful chillstep.

[Dance] Tune in Tokyo – Ray of Love (Denzal Park Remix)

Denzal Park is an Australian house/electro duo consisting of Kam Denny and Paul Zala . Few days ago Tune In Tokyo released their latest single “Ray of Love” Remix pack with the Denzal Park remix being the most exceptional. “Ray of Love (Denzal Park Remix)” contains the cheerful progressive house synths and uplifting vocals that provide the same vibe and energy that is essential for every summer club scene, making this tune a perfect addition to the dancefloor. Still a bit mainstream-sounding, but still a pleasant listen to prepare you for the night out.

Here’s something we weren’t expecting to see. Electro duo, Cazzette , from Avicii’s At Night Management decided to show some Swedish pride and surprise their fans from their homeland with their take on one of the songs from . Based on my Swedish sources, the sampled song was the band’s breakthrough single during the summer and are apparently crazy live. The beat is interesting, the swedish vocals are catchy and, as always, Cazzette delivers a large dose of electro bass to please all the Bass junkies. The Swedish duo keeps surprising us with their productions, with “Bjornstammen” taking the gold for “Most Original/Unexpected Choice of Sample”.
