[Electro House] Zedd – Spectrum (ft. Matthew Koma)

The start of the summer looks bright as Anton Zaslavski, better known as Zedd , releases his latest single “Spectrum” , featuring the unique vocals of Matthew Koma , most notable for his contribution for the yet unreleased vocal version of . Unlike the bass-blasting “Shave It” or the hard-hitting “Shotgun” , Anton takes on a more radio-friendly (in comparison) approach with “Spectrum”; nevertheless, the track still contains that “Zedd feel” to it, featuring funky electro house synths, signature greasy bassline, melodious build-ups and a satisfying, explosive drop. The good news don’t end here as “Spectrum” is the first single from his upcoming album! We’ll keep you updated as new information comes in; meanwhile, enjoy this anthem.

Also, an interesting observation: Ever since “Shave It”, all of Zedd’s original productions’ names start on the letter “S” (Shave it, Scorpion Move, Stars Come Out, Slam the Door, Shotgun, and now Spectrum). Now isn’t that neat :)

just leaked his beautiful radio edit of Katy Perry’s ‘Wide Awake’. Be warned, the drop is not what you expect, don’t let the build up fool you! Kaskade is testing out his potential to new genres, meaning the mix is very different than his usual ‘harder’ stuff. It’s really nice to see how DJs try new styles, especially when they only get better!

It’s that epic time of the month again; The Swedish Bass Mafia, aka Dada Life , deliver their May 2012 Mix with the most hard-hitting tracks from EDM. Featuring some known hits, such as Tiesto + Swanky Tunes collaboration “Make Some Noise” and Dada’s own “Rolling Stone’s T-shirt” , and some lesser known gems, such as Ralvero’s “Rage” and the final track of the mix “Turn The World On (Angger Dimas Dub)” (whoop whoop!). For me the most pumped-up track would probably be Laidback Luke’ s simple yet extremely uplifting “1234″, as every drop overpowers the previous (Also the transition to WG’s “Redline” is a nice touch). And, as always, Dada Life treats us with one of their upcoming previews, this time being their remix of Kaskade’s smooth “Llove” , transforming it into a rough and bassy dancefloor destroyer.

[Dubstep to Dance] Catching Up (May 2012 Edition)

Being away for a while really gave me some time to collect some amazing Treats ‘n Beats for you!

We’re starting off with (we’ve already had him here with badass tune). Bassgator’s main feature is obviously bass, which is always highlighted in all of his songs. The latest of his work has its unique twist, though: ‘From the Light to the Darkness’ is a gentler track, which sends out some mad swag vibes. It reminds me of a more mellow, yet equally funky, Major Lazer “Original Don”.  Out on Beatport!

Next off we’ll have a look on ’s ‘Disco Wobblez’, which came out a while ago (almost 2 months!). The track gives off a really friendly feeling, and believe me – if you like house with a slight touch of electro, you will enjoy this. The track came out along with an entire EP, which consists of three originals plus three remixes. Check the EP out if you have time, but your time is spent better listening to Disco Wobblez if you’re not into… erm… ‘electro-loungey’ music.

Madeon has some competition as 18 year old child prodigy Walden from Australia shines brighter and brighter on the EDM radar after every one of his releases. His latest production, a guilty pleasure of mine, is a remix of Marina and the Diamonds’ “Primadonna” , turning it into an energetic house track that includes computerised vocals, catchy synths and a satisfying addition of a bassline after the drop. Walden’s remix is perfect for house parties, dance floors and radio duo to the track’s cleverly/professionally organised song structure. The young artist shows a lot of potential that I’m sure will not go unnoticed.
